Primary School Religious Education Curriculum
The curriculum helps develop an understanding about how Catholics celebrate, live and pray in ways that are relevant to the new millennium. It was developed by teachers and for teachers and seeks to advance the collaborative relationship between the Home, the School and the Parish as they work together to educate their children in faith.
The curriculum has six Learning Strands for each of the eight years of primary school - God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Church, Sacrament, Communion of Saints.
There are also three learning modules for each year level - Liturgical Year, Prayer and Sacramental Celebrations, Myself and Others.
Where appropriate, teachers’ support the children to make connections between what they learn in Religious Education to other curriculum areas.
